One of the best ways to spread the word about study abroad is by word of mouth. The Office of Education Abroad would be more than happy to send a staff member to speak to your group (e.g. student organization, community organization, foundation, department, etc.) or classroom. Please see the following information on the types of presentations offered and how to request one:
For UNC Charlotte Staff
Are you a department on campus that would like more information on how study abroad works and what part you or your department could play in the student's study abroad process? OEA would be glad to give you an overview! A staff member from OEA can attend your office or department's staff meeting or set up a time to meet in order to give a 30 minute or 60 minute presentation to deliver the overview of OEA's mission, steps to study abroad, program options, how our offices may cross paths, and ways in which we can collaborate.
For UNC Charlotte Academic Advisors
Are you wondering what your role as an Academic Advisor is when your student tells you they're interested in studying abroad? OEA would be happy to give an overview of the study abroad process, what OEA does to assist the students through the process, and what your role as an Advisor is. OEA staff would be happy to set up a one-on-one appointment or to present to a group of 3 or more Advisors in your department to deliver a 60 minute presentation.
For UNC Charlotte Faculty
We have found that it's incredibly effective when an OEA staff member is able to present to a classroom on study abroad opportunities, especially in terms of putting pre-conceived notions regarding study abroad to rest. OEA would love the chance to deliver as little as a 15 minute or 45 minute presentation. This would include a 30 minute discussion regarding an overview of study abroad options and the process as well as a 15 minute presentation from a study abroad alumni to discuss their experience and the benefits of studying abroad.
OEA would be happy to speak to high school students and other organizations that would benefit from a study abroad presentation. These presentations can be customizable, so please follow the instructions below:
