Scholarship Program for International Study

For Students Currently Enrolled at UNC Charlotte

Applicable to Study Abroad Experiences During the Following Terms

  • Summer I and Summer II 2015
  • Fall 2015
  • Spring 2016

The Application Deadline is Monday, February 16, 2015 at 5:00pm.

Scholarship Applications Will be Available after November 1, 2014.

Please note that you must be enrolled full-time at UNC Charlotte, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have attended an Information Session before you can apply for scholarships. Information Session times are listed here.

If you are awarded a scholarship through the Office of Education Abroad: Note that grades will not be processed until the following items are submitted to the Office.

  1. A hand written thank you note to the donor of your scholarship (delivered through OEA);
  2. Photos for your donor showcasing your experience abroad;
  3. An essay describing your study abroad experience and its impact on your student experience and life.

The Halton Scholarship Program for International Study

This merit-based scholarship is intended to encourage UNC Charlotte's best undergraduate students to have an academic experience abroad. This scholarship offers financial assistance to UNC Charlotte students in hopes of strengthening our mission to internationalize the student body. Awards are $1,000.00

The William Wilson Brown, Jr. Latin American Studies Scholarship Fund

This merit-based scholarship is designed to encourage undergraduate or graduate study in Latin America or Spain. Students in any major or minor will be considered for this award. Awards are $1,000.00.

The Charles E. Zeigler Sr. International Studies Scholarship

This merit-based scholarship is designed to assist non-traditional undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad. The award is $1,000.00.

The Robert J. Mundt Memorial Scholarship for International Study

This merit-based scholarship is intended to defray costs associated with a study abroad experience. Any full-time graduate or undergraduate UNC Charlotte student is eligible for this scholarship.

The Odyssean

This scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate UNC Charlotte student who would not otherwise have the financial means to have a semester-long academic experience abroad. Awarded to a student who demonstrates both exceptional financial need and extraordinary academic performance, this scholarship will cover approximately $12,000.00 toward the costs of a semester abroad. Interested students should email the Director of the Office of Education Abroad to learn more about the scholarship and to make an appointment with him to apply. You must receive financial aid and demonstrate significant financial need through FAFSA and other financial records to be considered for the Odyssean. The Minimum GPA for the Odyssean Scholarship is 3.25. The Odyssean is intended for a single fall or spring semester study abroad. Students studying on summer programs are not eligible for the scholarship.

The German Language and Culture Foundation

Students in science, technology and business related topics with a GPA of 3.25 or higher and who plan to study abroad for one academic year are eligible to apply for this $7,500.00 scholarship.
