Vanessa Lee

Vanessa moved to Charlotte, NC from Hong Kong when she was 12. She is currently a senior at UNCC double majoring in Psychology and Japanese with an Undergraduate Certificate in Translation. Vanessa spent her fall 2018 semester in Nagoya, Japan with an intent to improve her Japanese language proficiency. As a peer advisor, she is excited to speak with those who are interested in going abroad in the future.

Sonja Hyvarinen

Born and raised in Finland, Sonja attended high school in Charlotte before becoming a student at UNC Charlotte. She is currently a Junior majoring in International Studies and Japanese, as well as minoring in Economics. Sonja has a passion for cultures and traveling, and has been lucky enough to visit several countries such as China, France, Italy, and Greece. In spring 2018, she had the opportunity to study abroad in Seoul, South Korea, and absolutely fell in love with the country. She is excited to continue her internship at the Office of Education Abroad in spring 2019 and share her enthusiasm for study abroad.

Lauren was born and raised in Charlotte and is a junior getting her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography and minor in Art History. Traveling and photography are two of her passions and she hopes to incorporate them both in a career in the future. Last summer Lauren studied digital photography and art history in Rome. In summer 2017 she studied French in Paris, and hopes to return to Paris when she graduates in May 2020. After visiting many countries like Spain, France, Italy, England, Switzerland and Monaco, Lauren is excited to share her experience about education abroad this Spring!
