Intern with the OEA

Internships are treated as a professional job and generally have a time commitment of 10-12 hours a week, during office hours (8am – 5pm) with occasional evening or weekend work. OEA interns are unpaid. Unlike peer advising roles, internships involve a weekly time commitment and the ability to function well in the office environment as part of a team. It is the perfect way to receive valuable professional work experience, in a fun and exciting working environment.

Note that OEA interns will be working in the Office of Education Abroad during their office hours. While possible, OEA Interns generally will not have the opportunity as a part of this role to talk to prospective UNC Charlotte students or to promote study abroad on campus. Rather, OEA Interns work on office projects. Students who are interested in a student-facing position who is interested in sharing their international experience with other UNC Charlotte students via tabling, classroom presentations and other events are encouraged to learn more about the Study Abroad Peer Advisor program.

The OEA only considers applications from UNC Charlotte students who studied abroad as a UNC Charlotte student. Additional requirements and preferences may be listed in the individual position descriptions below.

Academic Credit

Some students have been able to receive academic credit in the past. Students must first discuss requirements associated with receiving academic credit for an internship with their academic department. Then, these parameters should be discussed with OEA Staff during the interview process, if asked for an interview, to see if the intern position is able to meet the parameters outlined by the academic department.
